Chloe Aschenbrenner
Dear
Brethren,
The attached series of emails I received from our daughter Susanne concerns a
little girl whose family attends Church of God – Cincinnati.
I’m
not sure how old the little girl is and I’m not sure what the very latest is
on her condition.
But
please pray for the whole family.
Love
and regards to all,
John
P.

Subject: Prayer Updates and Requests~ Chloe Aschenbrenner
Good morning prayer warriors.
They will be doing another CT scan and X-rays soon on our sweet
Chloe. They are worried about brain swelling and damage. She also
started producing a large amount of urine, which is concerning. Her
platelet levels are too high and blood pressure too low to safely do a spinal
puncture to test for meningitis. But that is what they are
suspecting. They are considering doing a procedure to take blood out and
pump it with oxygen before returning it. Please continue to pray.
Keri is concerned about keeping her milk supply up for Cayden. Please pray
about that. I am asking that you also pray that they can get some rest. If
even just a little. Finally, please pray that God protects the other
little ones in our congregation, MOPS group and any others who may have come in
contact with whatever this is, should it be contagious. Our great God
hears and is a merciful, loving healer. Trusting Him with you as we pray
together. I'll let you know when I hear more.

From Keri re: Chloe:
They still have nothing definitive about meningitis because she is too weak to
undergo a spinal puncture to confirm. But they are suggesting it was initially a severe UTI that then
turned into meningitis. Brain swelling, globally so they've put in a
sensor to monitor it. They are concerned about severe brain damage from
lack of oxygen. Not looking good this morning. Seizures have started
again. They found negative rod bacteria in her urine, making them believe
this was initially a UTI. They've backed way off her bp medicine, so
they're encouraged at least about that. Dr Ryan came over last night &
adjusted her. She was 4 degrees off, which is significant. After the adjustment,
she was only 2. He's going to come back the next couple of days. Liver
enzymes not looking good. She's retaining fluid this morning. Keri
has also asked that she can fight fear and remain strong and faithful.
Randy is, obviously, struggling as well. Please keep the whole family in
your prayers.

Subject: Prayer Update~ Chloe Aschenbrenner
More tubes, more wires, more prayers needed. Update from
Aunt Kelly
Seelig: We just heard back
from the neuro team. They are completely baffled, her liver is still
not functioning properly, and her liver enzymes keep going up. They are
concerned about her urine, and she is still retaining water. Kidneys look
good. They have confirmed E. coli in her system. None of these
things would cause the brain swelling. They are now looking into genetic
disorders, instead of meningitis, because nothing is making sense. Very
concerned about the lack of brain activity.

I just received a panicked
phone call from Keri. Chloe is no longer showing any pupil activity.
This indicates no brain activity. Prayers are desperately needed.

I just received the attached
email from David Wyatt-Mair this morning.
David and his family live in Cape Town, South Africa.
Please consider what it would be like to be without water and keep them in
your thoughts and prayers.

Well
you may have heard, but we are in the grip of a serious drought, well that’s
an understatement. The city (4 million people) is about to actually run out of
water. We tried buying some to keep as drinking water but even that is being
rationed now or there just isn’t any. Irrigations and plumbing parts are being
sold out as people try rig up something at home. As from 01 Feb last
Wednesday we are on level 6B restrictions (50 Litres a day per person.)
We
have cut our consumption for a number of months to average for the three of us
to 29 Litres per day – that’s for everything, whether cooking, drinking
toilet flushing and laundry. We are using well point water in the washing
machine. Annetjie feeds it in to the powder tray as soon as it starts taking in
water. This stops it and it washes as per normal. Thankfully we have a pool that
we keep topped up from the well point but you can’t drink it. Listeriois has
broken out in SA as Cholera did/has in Zambia.
We
are really staring a catastrophe in the face. Water will have to be collected
from 200 points – allocating 25 litres per person per day – it’s actually
a logistical nightmare and for most impossible. There are no containers to be
found anywhere. The next best thing is a 20 litre paint tin. When a small
delivery arrives in the shops – If you were there at the time – you could
buy some in the scramble. Try even buy a plastic bucket? Just everything is sold
out. And the prices are escalating like crazy.
Trying to get a water purifier or filter – no
stock, filters sold out and online stores the same. So Cape Town in dire
straits. The major dam Theewaterskloof is 12.9% and is becoming useless as they
will start dredging it. There is a lot of anxiety, anger, blaming (yes
politicians and the city did not listen to the engineers warnings since early
2000’s) and one sees this rising and lessons of history show us what man can
do when his back is against the wall. New punitive tariffs have been introduced
to hit the abusers hard – but its laughable as many of them don’t care what
the cost is.
The
sole subject nowadays on Cape Talk radio is the water crisis.
Despite the cities campaigns the daily consumption has not dropped to 500
Million litres a day and now from 01 Feb. its supposed to be 450M a day. But the
total capacity dam levels is 25.8% now 231 Mega litres – so that’s
about 100 Days worth. The issue is we are at the hottest time of the year as
well and if rain comes it will only be in April earliest I think. I looked back
at my past few years cycling records to be reminded that we cycled right through
the winters with hardly a disturbance due to storms or rain for a few days at a
time.
Please
let the people join our prayers for relief for the millions in Cape Town, that
the rain comes down in great measure to restore the dams.
If we don’t get rain then agriculture will be
severely hit (can easily see in CT – “hurt not the oil and wine”) as well
and the economy will start to collapse. People are driving 100 Km out of cape
town to other towns and villages to get water and bring it back home.
Just went outside to scoop a few buckets of precious
water from the pool. Annetjie did Geoff’s earlier.
Oh well, another bad news story – the cares of
this life. But our concern is that we want to live clean and I cant imagine what
many are going through. We are still managing by changing habits. But others and
the poor – a disease risk
So
for instance to wash oneself: Two small containers to catch first water
(city reduced pressure) from the shower that is cool water. Place one side for
dish washing. Then stand in a baby bath. Wet yourself, switch off, soap, switch
on and rinse. Pour into a bucket and then use to flush down the toilet.
Basins in kitchen sink to catch every drop. Etc. Amazing how one can adapt.
Anyhow John, that’s one aspect of our lives I give
you an update on. Every time we go out now – we look to see what’s available
regarding bottled water. Containers etc.
Oh yes, at the hardware store they got in 20 or so well point pumps. I
managed to scrounge some fittings and have what is needed. Our old pump works
daily so we must get a spare pump before they are not available. That was a
serious warning to anyone who has a well point, to make sure you have parts etc.
I
was ‘lucky’ in that two days in a row I was at the mall – and got some
water – when along comes a guy with a pallet full of it. This is s hypermarket
store – but it was almost empty – I asked him if I could buy a larger amount
– he says sure – so he and I – he actually helped me – carted 144
bottles to the car – R8.99 a bottle (1.5 litres) I rushed home and came back
and got another 188- The wonders of a credit card.
The next day when we were at food lovers for specials – we see people
walking out with boxes of aqua – 4 x 5 litre bottles – so we get two
trolleys – a lot pf people buying… we get 9 boxes and go home and come back
and get the last of what is going – another 12 boxes. So for R4000.00 we have
432 1.5 litres and 84 x 5 litres 420 litres. Sounds a lot – but what about our
family? This won’t go anywhere over a few months. (9 people at a 5
litre a day each = 45 litres a day = 18 Days) That’s for drinking and
cooking only.
Just
wish I could get more – one has to be sharp and ask and you shall receive.
Also there’s a limit to affordability. I just have to avoid standing in
long lines for hours a day. I want to get purifiers.
Martin said they use Berkey purifiers. So I looked them up.
http://www.water-purifier.co.za/
as you see- no stock until March. Yes even the labs are not able to cope
with people sending in their samples to have checked to see if it can be
purified and used.
OK enough already, I could go on and on. Annetjie just walked in
from what she says is such a time consuming laborious process.

We
would very much appreciate your prayers for Dave and Colombe Robinson who live
in Ashton, Ontario, Canada (about half an hour’s drive south-west of Ottawa).
Poor Colombe has multiple serious illnesses that have, for many years,
kept her so close to death that Dave has been unable to hold down a steady job
because of having to care for her 24/7. And yet, despite all that they go
through on a daily basis, we’ve never known a couple who are so able to keep
smiling and to maintain a sense of humour.

(Forwarded from the Church
of the Great God web-site)
We
are saddened to report the sudden death of Mantabe
Kamaloni, 37, a Church of God member in Zambia.
Details are sketchy, but apparently he left yesterday to go to the northern part
of the country for work. He was not feeling well, and was admitted to the
hospital, where he died after a brief stay. Please remember his wife, Chileshe,
27, and their three children, the youngest of whom is four months old.

Please pray for long-time
Church of God member June Davies of Maple Ridge, BC, Canada who has
recently been diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer. June worked for many
years as secretary in WCG's Canadian office in Vancouver, BC. She is the
widow of the late Lorne Davies

Please pray for Lavada Williams
of Pascagoula, MS, USA who is awaiting the results of an X-ray she just had at the hospital following an appointment with her Cardiologist.
Earlier in the week she began to experience pain between the shoulder and elbow of her left arm, and now that whole section is very badly bruised, even though she
has done nothing to damage it. There seems to be some internal bleeding and the Doctor is trying to determine what is causing it.
Lavada has heart problems and is on non-clotting medication, making this a very serious condition and she would very much appreciate your prayers for God’s intervention.

Please pray for Callie
Bissett of Nanaimo, BC, Canada – 8 years old – who has suffered
from night terrors for a long time; but, just as they were starting to
abate, her dad, Martin had a stroke this past summer and spent weeks in a
Vancouver hospital. Since then, and most severely, in the past few weeks,
Callie’s night terrors have intensified. She spends every night
screaming and crying to the point of vomiting. In the day, she is a happy,
carefree little girl with no memory of her traumatic nights. With Martin
still recovering, his wife/Callie’s mom, Angie is exhausted. Please pray
for peace, recovery and rest for the whole family.

Please pray for Kenton Dick – 19 years old
– originally from Nanaimo, BC, Canada; but now studying at the
University of Berkley, California – who has recently
been diagnosed with a malady called Essential Tremor.
A few months ago, Kenton noticed that his hand was shaking when he tried
to do simple tasks. At first he put it down to stress and fatigue; but
when it continued, he went to the ER. A neurologist has diagnosed him with
an Essential Tremor, meaning a tremor that only occurs when he makes a voluntary
movement: e.g. reaching for a coffee cup, plugging in an electrical device, etc.
Epilepsy and Parkinson's have been ruled out because those maladies are
considered involuntary. To hopefully discover the cause,
Kenton will have an MRI in a few weeks, and then head back to the neurologist.
Most concerning is that the neurologist has already said that he has never seen
an Essential Tremor in a person so young. It mostly presents in 60+ year
olds. Further worrisome is how this condition will affect his future
career. Kenton is on a full scholarship at Berkeley University pursuing
his passion and amazing talent playing music. Please pray for healing and
for answers for his whole family.

Please
pray for Jean Harkins of Lakeland, Florida, U.S.A. who underwent gall
bladder surgery on January 1st but is now doing much better. She was released from the hospital yesterday (January 2nd) and is now resting
and recuperating at home.
Jean and her husband Bill would like to forward their thanks for your concern
and prayers for Jean. Please keep Jean in your
prayers for a rapid, total and complete recovery, according to God's
perfect will.
